On the Lookout T e cheetah climbs a small termite mound to look around. T in black markings run down from its eyes to its mouth. T ese marks are an adaptation. T ey help cut down glare from the bright sun so the cheetah can see better. T e cheetah’s sharp eyes spot a herd


of gazelles. T e cheetah moves slowly through the grass. Its tan, spotted fur is an adaptation, too. It helps the cheetah blend in with the grass. T is is called camouflage. Now, it’s harder for the gazelles to see the cheetah.
