Sport Development First Stick Program applications available When Vicki Williams and a few other parents decided it was time to start a youth lacrosse league in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, she knew exactly where to turn for assistance. “The fi rst place I went for help was the US Lacrosse website, and the First Stick Program was a no-brainer,” Williams said.

The First Stick Program provides teams and leagues with comprehensive resources, ranging from equipment to coaching education. From

the league's modest start in 2012, it now has more than 100 boys and girls players across multiple teams. “This has been a very rewarding experience,” Williams said. Applications for grants are now being accepted. For more, visit uslacrosse.org/fi rststick.
