Glion launches London Summer Academy
Glion Institute of Higher Education, one of the world’s top three institutes of higher education for an international career in hospitality management, has launched a London Summer Academy for budding industry leaders aged between 16–18 years. Designed for those with a passion
for hospitality, the two-week holiday course off ers an insight into the world of luxury hospitality and provides a taste of what Glion students learn on their undergraduate business degree. Topics covered include restaurant concept and design, food preparation and planning, and event management, from planning to implementation. Combining theory with practice,
the Academy experience includes fi eld trips to world-renowned hospitality companies, including a professional visit to a 5-star London establishment, as well as several of London’s most famous dining destinations. Students will also participate in introductory
lectures and workshops by Glion’s distinguished faculty and visiting speakers. At the end of the course, students will host and organise an on- campus event to put their new-found skills to the test. With London being a hub for global
tourism, Summer Academy students will live and learn in the capital, off ering the perfect environment for those aspiring to enter the hospitality industry. Classes will take place on the campus of the University of Roehampton,
where Glion London is located. The addition of Glion London, which
opened in August 2013, illustrates the growing demand worldwide for hospitality professionals. Glion works closely with the hospitality and tourism industries to prepare students to meet their needs. More than 50 representatives from the hospitality industry, including brands such as Mandarin Oriental, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Marriot and Hyat , visit Glion to recruit from its graduating class.
