Wonderful Wetlands Swamps, marshes, and bogs are all wetlands. Each is different, though. Each is home to different kinds of plants and animals. Each forms its own unique ecosystem. Yet they’re all important. Plants and animals need these wetlands to


survive. Wetlands give them food and shelter. We also need wetlands. Tey clean up our water. Tey help keep the planet healthy.


Wordwise bog: an area of soft, wet land formed by water and moss


marsh: an area of grassy land that floods easily and usually remains waterlogged at all times


swamp: an area of spongy, muddy land and forest that’s filled with water


wetland: land where there is a lot of moisture in the soil
