Breathing Problems Less air pressure can cause a second deadly problem. It can make it harder to breathe. Close to the ground, air molecules are close

together. As air pressure drops, the molecules spread out. So every breath in takes in less air. In the stratosphere, the molecules are too far apart. A person can’t get enough oxygen to live. T e suit protects Baumgartner from these

problems. It presses on his body so he won’t swell up. It has oxygen in it for him to breathe. With his suit on, he’s ready to go. He crawls

into a small capsule. It’s attached to the world’s largest helium balloon. Slowly, the balloon liſt s off the ground. He’s on his way.
