As a small independent, we have found it hard establishing
ourselves through the last few years. We only set up our business in 2009, in the midst of the recession. Some say this could be madness. However, we knew that, if we could make it work now, things would only get better. This has proved true, particularly over the last 12 months, which have been very positive.
The weather has been good over the last six months, and this has helped builders, who represent our main customer base. Also, with the economy starting to pick up and houses now being built once more,
consumer confidence is starting to grow and we have seen an upturn in business. We have also seen our customer base increase, with new customers coming on board month after month. This is because we strive to give a good level of service and offer competitive rates. We are now looking forward to 2014 and a continuation of this
upward trend, giving us the opportunity to reinvest in our hire fleet and look at taking on some larger plant. With this in mind, I will certainly be visiting the Executive Hire Show in February, and will be looking out for special Show-only deals from suppliers.

We are very positive about the outlook for 2014. We have seen
an increase in utilisation and hire rates, and this situation looks set to continue. This year we have added new excavators, dumpers and rollers to our fleet. We have focused on buying fuel efficient excavators, particularly JCB’s Ecomax
range. Our customers love the increased savings that these machines offer and we are pleased to buy a British product. We have expanded our premises and moved into new, purpose-
built offices, and we have also have added two new mobile service vans to meet increased demand.
