TowerLight protects Olympic Park
Three TowerLight TL systems have been supplied on long-term hire by security specialist, Onwatch, to help guard the Olympic Park in east London from trespass, vandalism and other anti-social behaviour. A mobile TL Master Security Tower is being used on the site, together with three portable slave units, which are remotely connected to the Onwatch central monitoring service. The main unit is self-powered and is designed to run for up to 700 hours on a single tank of fuel. A CCTV camera is fitted to the vertical hydraulic mast, together with heat and movement detectors, multi-directional wi-fi equipment and alarms. The module can also be used for making audio announcements to warn intruders and has the ability, if necessary, to contact the police.
Champion keeps on trucking
Champion Hire has started taking delivery of 15 Iveco Eurocargo vehicles as the Sheffield-based company upgrades is delivery fleet. They have 20ft double beaver-tails with drop-angled chassis and hydraulic loading ramps, and have been specified with automatic gearboxes, air brakes, reversing cameras and proximity warning sensors. Other items that have been fitted include ladder racks, extra-wide mirrors, remote controlled winches, flashing beacons, body spotlights and tachograph calibration. “There's even a hands-free bluetooth facility for our mobiles and a radio/CD player. It's sheer luxury,” enthused Darren Varley, from Champion’s Leeds depot, who was the first of the company’s drivers to pick up one of the new vehicles. Champion reports that it has invested approximately £750,000 in its delivery fleet this year, and is midway through a £2m re-investment schedule for plant and tools as the construction industry continues to recover.
