With six Workhorse power racks and more than 15 modules brought to market over the past three years, Radial’s 500 series gives recording studios the options they need to bring a higher level of creativity to recording. All Radial 500 series chassis begin with heavy-duty 14 gauge steel construction throughout for improved shielding against noise induced magnetic fields. Each channel slot is equipped with separate XLR I/O along with parallel 1/4in TRS connectors for splitting the signal and cross patching. A FEED function patches one module to the next with a simple slide of a switch. No cables are required and there is no need to solder stereo pairs as a LINK switch is easily activated. All are equipped with Omniport 1/4in TRS that enables special functions on each module to be used in a particular way. For instance, the Omniport can be an instrument input on a preamp, a key input on a compressor or even a remote switch. Powering concerns are addressed with as much as 200 milliamps per module slot. Each Workhorse power rack is equipped with safety measures for safe use and is fully backward compatible with older 500 series modules. www.radialeng.com

From Rupert Neve comes the 5060 Centerpiece. Sized for desktop use, the 5060 delivers the tonality and centre section features of Rupert’s flagship 5088 console, cementing outboard together with custom transformers, flexible monitoring, DAW transport controls, and the power of a Rupert Neve-designed 24 x 2 mix-bus. With a modular, hybrid analogue/digital mix system built around the 5060, you can outfit your studio with exactly what you need.

Utilising modern DAW control technologies, the 5060 integrates stem outputs from the DAW with the rest of your control room, sums the final

The JDK V12 is a 500 series single channel compressor with a twist. The V12 is based on the compression circuit found in the classic ATI Paragon console; a favourite of live sound engineers, now adapted to Lunchbox (and the 19in R22 rackmount unit) by API Audio themselves, who are actually JDK's manufacturer. Finished in matte 1940s-field-radio green, the V12 is specified with threshold, ratio, and gain controls, nine-segment gain meter, stereo linking ability, and selectable soft/hard knee. The twist is that API’s ‘Thrust’ circuit, popularised by the API 2500 bus compressor, is fitted. 'Thrust' engages a high pass filter before compression, which stops low-end-heavy material from clamping the compressor down, and in practical terms leads to a punchier result. Rather ‘LA-2A’-like, attack and release are controlled automatically subject to the program material, so in use it is quick to set up and start recording. www.sourcedistribution.co.uk

mix, and provides two-track outputs, source selection, and speaker feed outputs from the monitor section. Used in conjunction with 5059 mixers and Portico modules, the 5060 forms the core of a scalable analogue system. www.rupertneve.com
