>>> TRADE SHOW InfoComm MEA Returns to Dubai

LOOKING TO capitalise on the year-on-year growth of the pro-AV industry in the Middle East and Africa, InfoComm – the commercial audiovisual industry trade association – is hosting its third trade show at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 20-24 October. This year’s show again coincides with the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) – an annual consumer technology show that attracts nearly 140,000 visitors – but the physical barriers that separated the two shows last year have been removed to allow for a free flow of traffic and increased exposure for InfoComm exhibitors. InfoComm MEA is built on the platform of economic diversification and

development in the area and claims that, according to a study by InfoComm International, the Middle East/Africa region ranks among the top three fastest growing pro-AV markets in the world. More than 150 companies from 36 countries will be on hand to display

pro-AV equipment across a variety of industries from hospitality and retail to education and entertainment. Complementing the exhibition portion of the event, the InfoComm MEA

Summit programme includes InfoComm University Seminars, Industry Tracks and Manufacturers’ Presentations, which offer insights on market perspectives and technological updates to specific AV industry practices. www.infocomm-mea.com

On the post-production side, intaj houses 23 HD server-based, post- production suites including two Pro Tools suites, Baselight, a number of FCP and Avid suites, plus suites for smoke and graphics. According to twofour54 intaj chief Paul Baker, the facility has generated over 16,000 hours of content since it was established in 2009. Recently, twofour54 teamed

with renowned Syrian director Momen Al Mulla to film a major new drama titled Hammam Shami at the company’s studios that was aired during Ramadan. The show is based around family life in Old Damascus, and particularly the visitors of the traditional Syrian hammam (bath house) of the title. During the production of Hammam Shami, Al Mulla and his team took over more than 10,000sqft of twofour54’s Studio B and transformed it into locations from 1950s Damascus. Post-production duties for the show were taken care of by twofour54’s editing suites.

The facility has also attracted international productions with Hollywood paranormal thriller Beware the Night (to be released in January 2015), from Screen Gems and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, beginning shooting this past July. “The Emirate of Abu Dhabi offers a stable business environment and a transparent regulatory environment. Specifically for the film production industry, the Media Zone Authority

Abu Dhabi has established a framework allowing crews to set-up and operate quickly and easily,” commented Baker. “While Abu Dhabi is becoming a top destination for media production companies from around the world, it is also a flourishing hotbed for local talent with Emirati filmmakers starting to receive international attention.” intaj.twofour54.com
