Looking Closer to Home Many endangered animals can


no longer be found in the wild. T ey now live only in zoos and aquariums. So Sartore began searching these places. He looked for animals to photograph. In one zoo, he met a type of


pygmy rabbit. Her name was Bryn. She and another rabbit were the only ones leſt of her species. Both rabbits died soon aſt er Sartore visited. T at’s when he made up his mind.


He would take photos of every species in captivity. People would see his photos. T en maybe they would want to help the animals.
