10 RIBS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

Tapered tubes and race- bred hull design made the Revenger 27 one of the best-performing RIBs

REVENGER 27 The Revenger 27 transformed RIB design. It was based on the Don Shead-designed sportsboat that Revenger was building at the time and when the company decided to enter the RIB market in 1994 it modifi ed the sportsboat hull to accommodate an infl atable tube. The result was one of the best looking and best-performing RIBs on the market. It was presented with the Motor Boat of the Year award in 1995, the fi rst time a RIB won this coveted title. Apart from the race-bred hull

design, the secret of the Revenger 27 was the use of tapering tubes. This transformed the look of the RIB and it was matched to a wide range of customer options. The fi rst versions were outboard powered and then came diesel inboard versions. With engine power to suit everybody, space, storage and superb handling, this sports RIB was a crowd-pleasing mix.

HEAVEN 80 When it was launched three years ago, the Heaven 80 was the largest RIB in the world. Commercial RIBs have since gone bigger and Rupert Marine in Sweden is now planning an 80ft

diesels coupled to Jolly surface drives the Heaven 80 can reach speeds of 46

freezer, icemaker, electric bathing ladder, satellite TV, air-con and a 3,500-litre fuel tank. The Heaven 80 proves that today RIBs can offer a level of comfort and

sophistication that was previously the reserve of ocean cruisers and large motor boats. Built by Heaven Gommoni in Italy, the 80 commands a £2 million price tag. It is certifi ed to take up to 30

passengers and remains not just the largest but one of the most luxurious RIBs built to date.
