TRAVEL–USA Road Trip

Cruising along the winding roads, listening to Dylan and Cash and taking in the spectacular sites; this is the all American way to travel. A particular highlight of our drive included our unforgettable stay at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, which boasts 110 individually decorated guestrooms, each with a distinct theme and colour. Also we cannot forget to mention our tour of the spectacular and breathtaking Hearst Castle in San Simeon, with the swimming pool alone being worth a visit. The drive between LA and San Francisco can

be completed within a day but we decided to stop off overnight in SLO, Monterey and San  days later. Famous for scenic beauty, cultural attractions,

diverse communities and world-class cuisine, San Francisco does not fail to impress. First of all, where to stay proved essential

to our trip. Centrally located, the eco-friendly Orchard Hotel provided us with easy access to many of the hot spots in San Francisco. This boutique hotel, delivers a refreshing twist of  awareness, sourcing the freshest local ingredients and produce from small farms to serve in their Daffodil Restaurant. We were only a stone’s throw away from Union Square (the shopping, hotel, and theatre district) and for those who love a good steak, just around the corner from Osso Steakhouse, whose steaks and cucumber martinis make it an institution in itself. For those looking to work off all the eating

and drinking one undoubtedly does in these surrounds, San Francisco boasts endless activities and places to visit for locals and tourists alike. In the spirit of the 34th America’s Cup being

held in the city this summer, we climbed aboard the 2003 America’s Cup winning yacht for a breezy morning sail. This morning activity is a spectacular way to take in the sites of the  Francisco skyline.  of some warm weather, then a quick escape to
