STRIKE A POSE ETC’s Source Four Fresnel is used to add to the glamour of a Paris fashion catwalk.
Working on what was dubbed the ‘World’s Largest Fashion Show’ during Paris Fashion Week must have been a daunting experience, especially for Event Technical Manager Bertrand de Saint Pern, who was tasked with creating lighting that would produce the required effect for the extreme runway. However, with a lot of experience and the right tools to work with, this was achieved perfectly. “We fitted each of two lines of truss above the catwalk with 50 ETC Source Four Fresnel fixtures,” explains Saint Pern. A total of seven hundred models eventually made their way down the 50-metre stretch of catwalk, which was extended into the street so that the huge crowds could also catch a glimpse of the action. The ten-storey Galeries Lafayette in Paris is an incredible location, and the flagship for an international chain that is known for its decadence. So much so, the

product for the catwalk, with a combination of ETC’s HPL lamp technology and the special optics of a traditional Fresnel, working together to create an efficient product with an impressive light output, which impressed Saint Pern; “We were impressed not only by the quality of the lighting provided but with the product itself,” he explains. “It was immensely practical.” S Group of Paris worked alongside ETC
distributor, Avab Transtechnik France, to install the 100 ETC fixtures at the Galeries Lafayette department store during the Fashion Week. Jonathan Malaisé, Project Leader for S Group, was delighted with the product; “The elegant look and finish of the Source Four Fresnel offered the appearance we wanted for this technical installation.”
S Group, based in Paris, Ales and Montpellier provided lighting, sound and video for the event. This included an impressive giant video screen that meant both the standing crowd as well as those who were given seats undercover all had access to a good view.
