IN THE digital era, every idea seems practicable with the help of appropriate electronic equipment and software. Certainly the requirements on modern conference and interpretation equipment –
and more customised equipment and software modules are being developed to meet today’s conference organisers’ needs. From our own experience
and from constant user feedback, Taiden has long understood the implications for its R&D of this need for flexibility, and has brought to market pioneering customised products in a short period of time. Due to

especially from high-level international conferences – are becoming more and more challenging, with ever more diverse functions being demanded. At the same time, easy and quick set-up and dismantling, and intuitive operation must not be ignored. This applies both to the modules on delegates’ tabletops and to those used by the operator, who has to control the equipment and manage the session via application software modules.
This means that, alongside standard equipment, more
quick market acceptance – assisted by a substantial multiplier effect from conferences with many participants – the customised products have soon been scheduled to enter series production. A frequent request – mainly
from international organisations holding many high-level meetings a day – was to have a digital audio mixer exclusively for conference systems and providing a familiar control format for audio engineers and system operators. The Taiden HCS-8301M

The operator has control of up to six active microphones at any one time during meetings, ensuring effortless real-time volume adjustment tailored to the current speaker’s voice. With the touchscreen, users have access to the mixer’s internal settings, such as IP and network settings, allowing interconnectivity with Taiden’s Digital Conference Software. Another objective – which could not have been fulfilled previously but was nevertheless a mandatory request in an international call for tender for a prestigious global organisation’s headquarters –
Digital Audio Mixer gives conference systems operators control over the audio level of conference microphones, interpreter consoles and system inputs/outputs, all without the need for a PC. The HCS-8301M is a robust 15-channel hardware mixer,

was to merge and split rooms as well as to combine the interpreter booths in an ad hoc manner, depending on how their numerous meeting rooms were being used. Although previously thought to be impossible to realise on this scale, the application has now been solved by integrating Taiden’s Booth Combiner (HCS-8300MX/F) with the General Controller for Booth Combiners
(HCS-8302/06/12/24). Each meeting room’s control room hosts a Booth Combiner (with an individual fibre connection to the General Controller for Booth Combiners which is located in the central control room) and a LAN-switcher (with an individual LAN connection to the LAN- switcher in the central control room). Each Booth Combiner
offers inputs for up to eight booths and features five work modes: Master, Slave, Tenant, Landlord and Idle (see diagram, left). Depending on the version, the General Controller is equipped with up to 24 fibre ports. As such, up to 24 rooms and their booths can be shared without any change in the cabling. These customised
products have proven their reliability under the harsh conditions of daily use at this international organisation over many sessions each day. They are also available now for customers worldwide, whatever the size of their congress centres or the requirements for the
sequencing of their meetings. In any case the
comprehensive Taiden product portfolio – dedicated exclusively to state-of-the- art digital conference and interpretation technology and featuring the groundbreaking Paperless Multimedia Congress System HCS-8300 – can meet any requirement.
