Volunteers of the Year Visalia’s Dave Pearson


and Vacaville’s Doug Beaumont were named NCGA Volunteers of the Year at the annual Tourna- ment Officials and Course Raters Day in October at Poppy Hills GC. Pearson, a member at


Visalia CC, was named the Course Rater of the Year. Pearson has been a course rater for 11 years, and is also an outstanding golfer. The 65-year-old bettered his age for the first time on Oct. 27 at Visalia CC, shooting a career-low 64. Beaumont, a member


at Cypress Lakes GC, was named Tournament Official of the Year. Beaumont has

been a tournament official for 10 years, and a certified rules official for nine. Beau- mont volunteers because he enjoys watching golf and helping players have a better understanding of the rules, while maintaining pace of play for the enjoyment of all golfers.

volunteers were also recognized for their outstand- ing service. They included course raters Russ Adam- son, Craig Cornell, Keith Schwartz, Bob


Benefiel and Bob Hall; and tournament officials Sam Gross, Paul Layrac, Phil Sexton, Lynne Gangi and Byron Washburn. Three volunteers also


received a gold NCGA watch for 20 years of ser- vice: Bob Burt, Ken Haas and Gary Nelson.
