and green as possible,” explains the University’s Landscape Manager, David Hunt. “We were pleased to see the LED EMFA range as its efficiency was something that became very important to us. Equally important, however, was the performance, and we were very happy to have a product that looked and performed so well without compromising on either the visual effect or low energy credentials.”

The Central Parade scheme for the university provides colour-changing LED floodlighting to individual blocks of trees in the pedestrianised area. A total of ten Mira 2 LED floodlights from EMFA have been custom mounted on brackets and are both grouped and individually controlled via a hand-held programmer. London Fenchurch Street is an

extremely busy station for commuters and tourists alike. As the winter days get shorter, commuters are quite likely to be heading to and from work in the dark. As such, an efficient lighting system was needed to ensure that the station platforms and central spaces are kept well lit. A new lighting system from Riegens has been installed at the station as part of a general

refurbishment of the station lighting. As well as improving energy

efficiency, the new system is also set to provide a better quality of light and improve the environment of the station for users. Bespoke design was required in a number of spaces for the project in order to ensure that the new system would work with the existing structure of the building.

luminaires designed to fit the existing chassis in order to avoid any disturbance of the ceiling. Riegens developed a bespoke solution, specially designed to meet the latest Building Regulations and to work with the station’s existing system. A bespoke system was also required

for the station platform, which was designed to an IP65 rating in order to comply with Network Rail standards, whilst also meeting the performance requirements needed to provide a safe and secure lighting solution for the space. This area is effectively outside, so cold weather and condensation had to be taken into consideration. Riegens’ fitting incorporated T8 lamps, chosen particularly for their better resistance to low temperatures, and also developed an entirely bespoke enclosure. The refurbishment has received a positive reaction from passengers and Network Rail staff, with comments on the bright and pleasant atmosphere of the station. Spanish-based LAMP Lighting has
