a cast iron pipe main to supply water to the fountains and towns. T e pipe extends 15 miles and begins at a pumping station in Marly, France. It connects to Seine, France and then to the Chateau de Versailles. Water fl ows throughout the extensive gardens of Versailles, amounting to 22 miles (35km) of pipes, an early form of sprinkler system. As the oldest form of cast iron piping still in existence, the system was refurbished in 2008 and remains 80% original. 
