News about the Green Deal
What is the Green Deal? The Green Deal can help you improve your home by installing measures like insulation without having to pay for the work up front. The Green Deal is a new kind of loan which is to a property, not to an individual. Savings will mainly be made on your heating bills (e.g. gas, oil or electricity). The Green Deal is designed to try to save you at least as much money as you will have to repay. However the actual level of your savings will depend on how much energy you use (e.g. to heat your home) and the future cost of energy. Repayment levels will be based on typical energy bills for a home like yours; they will be added to your electricity bill (because everyone has one of those). Expected to be launched by the Government in November this year, the Green Deal will revolutionise the energy efficiency of UK homes.
How the Green Deal Works Consumer
Green Deal Advisor
Green Deal Installer
Consumers will have an independent assessment undertaken on their property by a Green Deal Advisor which outlines what energy efficiency home improvements could be installed. The consumer will take the assessment to a Green Deal Provider, who will develop the Green Deal Plan. The Green Deal Provider will organize the loan, set up the repayment process via the electricity bill, and find a Green Deal installation company to undertake the work on the property.
