Automotive fuel systems need to meet conductivity standards to ensure sparks don’t cause explosions

Prakash Patel, director of R&D at Ampacet, says his

company has focused on providing antistatic additive masterbatches for polyolefins based on oleoester chemistries, such as GMS, which has shown excellent performance in PP food packaging applications. Recently, the company also developed something similar for electronic packaging. Product 101140 is an oleoester that has been shown to work very well in PC or PC blends used in circuit boards and to eliminate the crazing in PC that is associated with amine-based chemistry.

antistat for use in packaging. Based on quaternary ammonium compounds, Solstat can be used in polyolefins, PET, PVC, nylon and polyurethanes at 0.5 to 1% use levels and is available as a 100% active liquid or a semi-solid paste. The company also offers its line of Statrite polymeric IDPs, based on long-chain polyols, which are also now sold in masterbatch form.
