polymeriQ simplifies

analysis B&w Tek of the uS has partnered with gnosys of the uK to launch the PolymerIQ system for the non-destruc- tive analysis and identification of polymers and additives. The system combines

B&w Tek’s portable Raman spectrometer system with TransChem chemometrics software from gnosys. The company’s say that

PolymerIQ’s real-time polymer analysis is ideal for introducing greater speed and cost efficiency into the routine inspection of masterbatches and com- pounds during production. ❙ www.bwtek.com/polymeriQ

compounding lines steer launches turn-key system

Steer Engineering used this month’s PlastIndia exhibition to launch its new SPl 40 compounding and pelletizing system developed for lean manufacturing.

The integrated line is designed to offer high efficiency at an attractive investment cost. The complete system

includes a compact co-rotating twin-screw extruder fitted with a raw materials feeder, strand die, water trough, air knife, pelletizer and classifier. It is designed for safe and reliable operation with rapid product changeover times

for producing small quantities or developing new formula- tions with minimum materials wastage.

The SPl 40 makes the

most of Steer’s expertise in screw element design and materials engineering to provide efficient processing and good resistance to wear. ❙ www.steerworld.com

colour measurement X-rite upgrades software

X-Rite has launched a new version of its NetProfiler software for streamlining colour measurement workflows. It can verify, optimise and certify hand-held and bench-top spectro- photometers used at locations worldwide on a regular basis. NetProfiler 3.0 can be

used to calibrate such instruments to a single virtual standard wherever they are being used. This helps to ensure that colour measurements taken at distant locations are accurate and reliable throughout the supply chain.

Earlier versions of the

NetProfiler have been used to optimise the performance of bench- top spectrophotometers which all experience some degree of data drift over time. The new version of the software extends this capability to hand-held devices with embedded

profiling capabilities. Another feature of

netprofiler can check and calibrate spectrophotometers wherever they are being used

NetProfiler 3.0 is that it can be used to profile new families of instruments such as sphere-based devices like the Ci52 model for industrial applications ❙ www.xrite.com

acs valve boasts high efficiency

ACS Valves has developed its new md Series of rotary feeder valves for efficient bulk materials handling. The eight-vane rotary

valve ensures proper pressure sealing at the inlet and outlet flanges. This reduces compressed air losses, leading to significant cost savings according to the company. In addition, the valve is offered with a variable frequency drive for further improvements in
