JULY 2012

I bet every single one of us remembers exactly where we were on the day seven years ago, when it was announced we’d won

the bid to host the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. And here we are standing on the threshold of that very event.

But before that frenzy ensues I wanted to spare a thought for those who have been working behind the scenes to get us ready for this once in a lifetime occasion. Our very own commissioning editor, Lynn Booth, is the clinical lead for physical therapies on the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and she warned me 2 years ago that she was working flat out and she needed me to take over some of the commissioning duties with immediate effect. I don’t think any of us can imagine the extent of the work that has gone into the organisation of this event.
