CANCELLATION POLICY – DePaul Housing Services requires that students, or if applicable a parent or legal guardian, sign or electronically sign a Housing Agreement to secure a space on campus. By requiring students to do this, Housing Services can conclude that these students intend to live on campus and therefore a space should be reserved in their name. By submitting a Housing Agreement, students are stating that they have read and understand the policies and fees associated with canceling the Housing Agreement.

Due to the demand for DePaul on-campus housing, these cancellation policies assist us in reserving spaces only for those students with the intent to live on campus for the full academic year. By enforcing cancellation deadlines, we are encouraging students to inform us of their plans in advance so that we can use the spaces for

other students. Housing Services wants to avoid

having students wait until the last minute to cancel, which puts students on our wait list at a disadvantage. These cancellation fees are not affected by whether or not DePaul University is able to fill the residence space vacated by the student.

A student must cancel his or her Housing Agreement in writing and meet with a Housing Services staff member, except in extenuating circumstances. The cancellation process will not be complete until the student completes the step-by-step instructions for checking out. (See page 15 for more information on checking out.) Full room charges
