Megger has launched its new
DELTA4000 series 12kV insulation diag- nostic system which offers fully automat- ic power factor/tan delta and tip-up test- ing. Also provided are facilities for man- ual measurements where the operator has full control to set the test parameters to cater for special testing requirements. Accurate temperature correction, based
on the actual condition of the test object, can be applied to results using a patented technique which works with data acquired from a separate dielectric frequency response (DFR) test. Automatic voltage dependence detection, which suggests the need for further (tip-up) testing and which is often a useful indicator of incipient insu-
of electrical insulation in all types of high voltage equipment, including transform- ers, bushings, circuit breakers, cables, lightning arrestors and rotating machinery. They can also be used for measuring the excitation current of transformer windings. To ensure that accurate results are obtained even when the instrument is powered from a supply with poor voltage and frequency stability, the test sets gen- erate their own test voltage, which is independent of supply quality. The DELTA4000 series can measure voltage, current, power loss, tan delta, power factor and capacitance. Test results are automatically stored in the unit and can be sent directly to a printer via USB. The instruments are supplied with Megger’s PowerDB Lite software. This allows the operator to run standard automatic tests and to program specific customised test routines in advance. The new test set will be available in two versions - the DELTA4110, to be used with an external computer, and the DELTA4310, a stand alone model with on-board computer. Megger

VISION TECHNOLOGY FOR TEST AND MEASUREMENT
Many electricians today are rou- tinely offering PAT testing as one of their range of services. With this in mind, Martindale Electric has
HandyPAT 500. The new offering can test any
electrical appliance and is designed to perform basic safety checks in accordance with the IEE Code of Practice (3rd Edition). The unit includes all the fea-
tures required for testing portable appliances on-site, and it can be used for Class 1, Class 2 and

introduced its new
power lead tests, insulation tests at 500V, plus fuse tests and a 200mA DC continuity test. Results are displayed onto a large screen, offering an instant and clear result in dark conditions. The HandyPAT 500 has been designed to withstand tough han- dling and comes with a case and batteries which are rechargeable from both mains and a vehicle, making it well suited for travel- ling between sites.
