OK – it’s not a cake show but I have to mention this one. In case you missed it (lucky you!), brides compete to win plastic surgery and a grand prize of a perfect dream wedding. It’s continuously mentioned that this is their opportunity to be the perfect bride. Now there’s a bad message – first that you’re not good enough the way you are and then that it’s
“perfect wedding.”
When I first heard about this
show, I thought it was joke. When I break it down, I don’t mind each piece of this show. Brides doing challenges to win their dream wedding – no harm in that. Brides having cosmetic surgery before their

wedding. Fine. But there is something about putting these two things together that’s just – uncouth. Or icky if you prefer.
The first episode was really ridiculous. Having a surgeon writing on the brides and pointing out their so-called flaws on national television was humiliating – and uncomfortable to watch. I felt bad for these women. And some of the challenges really crossed the tacky line.

Bottom line – we’ve reached a new low with this one. Spend your time on better shows where you can actually learn something.
