Experienced Bridesmaid and current Maid of Honor Amy Smirnov shares her advice on helping the Bride on her Big Day.
It’s not about the title the Bride gives you or where you are placed in the bridal party line up. It’s about being there for your friend, the Bride on one of the biggest days of her life. You have been chosen because you are a special person. So whether you are the Maid of Honor or Bridesmaid just give it your all. Near or far she needs to know you care. The Bride needs you to help her through the stressful moments (there’s always stress) and to also celebrate the joyful moments of wedding planning!
For some, planning a wedding comes naturally. For others it can cause a great deal of stress and can make us want to pull our hair out. With that being said, the Bride is going to look to her maid of honor and bridesmaids! For the record, just because you aren’t picked to be the MOH doesn’t mean you can’t help with planning her bridal shower and bachelorette parties. Let’s face it girls – that’s a lot of planning for one person. So don’t be afraid to reach out and get the ball rolling. It can be a great time for you too; you might even discover a hidden talent or two!
So remember, one day you will have the chance to wear the white gown and you will want all the love and support in return. If you have already been the bride then remember how you relied on your girls. Were you faced with unfortunate events and your bridesmaids weren’t there for you? Remember how you felt. The way you portray yourself in these upcoming days will have an impact on the bride for the rest of her life. She will think about her friends that stood by her side and also remember those who were too busy to care. So let’s not rain on her parade….. just in case it’s a gloomy wedding day.
