wouldn’t be complete without fun games! Media guests enjoyed to the hilt the creative games, particularly the one which let them use a new technology called Businessworks Audience Response System, or BARS, which allowed them to send their answers to multiple choice questions in an easier, faster and definitely more fun way. Lucky winners of the games went home with goody bags that were filled with must-have Tupperware Brands products for the whole family! Swiss celebration at Mandarin Oriental
SWITZERLAND is a nation whose unique cuisine reflects its cultural and culinary diversity. “The type of food varies, depending on which side you’re on— German, French, or Italian” notes Juerg Casserini, the Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission. For the country’s 719th National Day, Mandarin Oriental, Manila adorned itself in the different colors of Switzerland’s cantons. The hotel was the venue for the Swiss National Day, as well as a glorious week-long food festival that was held with the support of the Embassy of
Switzerland, and in partnership with Swiss International Airlines. Mandarin Oriental General Manager Mark Bradford (himself a Swiss national) and Resident Manager Oliver Kreuzer, welcomed guests to the Swiss Festival which featured the folk band Adlerspitz Buebae composed of Xavier Wiget, Markus Schuler, and Robert Muheim, who also provided the lively sound- track to the National Day festivities. Also, guest chef Thomas Wenger prepared a wide array of dishes, cold
cuts and cheeses that delighted diners, including Swiss International Airline’s Country Manager Paul Schenk and Regional Director Markus Schmid. Among the diplomats who graced
the National Day festivities hosted by the new Swiss Ambassador Ivo Sieber and his lovely wife Gracita Tolentino were: Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Ambassador Erlinda Basilio; Ambassadors Robert Brinks of the Netherlands, Alistair MacDonald of the European Union Delegation; and A Selverajah of
Singapore; Consul Miguel Realmonte, of the Argentinian Embassy; Jose Oramas, Charge d’Affaires of the Mexican Embassy; artist and philanthropist Marivic Rufino; members of the Consular Corps of the Philippines Consul Fortune Ledesma of Monaco; Consul Mellie Ablaza of Guatemala; Consul Tony Rufino of Mongolia and Consul Vince Carlos of Cote d’Ivore. Also seen were columnists and journalists Beth Day Romulo, Rosalinda Orosa and Rachelle Wenger and Jon Vicente.
