Honeywell’s access control system is flexible and fits into most small applications. There are a number of ways to control access through doors. Because you can separate the system into many partitions or departments, the system offers a number of powerful capabilities.





Lock and unlock doors on a time schedule – by establishing a separate schedule for each partition, you can limit access into departments depending upon the day of the week or time of day





Lock and unlock doors based upon the armed state of the intrusion detection system – the system provides a seamless integration with intrusion detection systems and is automatically aware of the armed or disarmed state of each department. This allows you to block access into a department when it is armed.





System continues to operate when data cables are damaged – each of the system’s door controllers stores the entire user ID database. This allows the door to continue to operate even in the event of damaged data cabling between the main control panel and the door controller.





System offers single users varying authority into each department – unlike most integrated systems, Honeywell’s solution provides the unique ability to assign each user a different access authority into each department while still using a single ID card or other device





Emergency lock-down during riots or threats – with the press of a button, the system can take instant action by releasing open doors, allowing them to close and lock. In addition, the system can generate an emergency message to in-building security and to local authorities by way of a monitoring station.








Automatically unlock emergency exit doors in the event of a fire or other critical event – because the system integrates seamlessly with fire alarm and other critical condition systems, locked access doors leading to building exits can be unlocked by the system, allowing occupants to exit to safety





Superior door locking capabilities – many access control systems keep the lock open for a specific time after a card read. Honeywell’s anti-door bounce technology causes locking hardware to energize as soon as the door is opened, causing the door to lock immediately when closed. This minimizes the threat of unauthorized persons making entry immediately after an authorized user enters the protected department.





Distributed intelligence for higher security and faster response to card presentation – because each door controller is located at the door and stores the active card user database, the system can more quickly grant access through protected doors. In addition, the overall system design costs are minimized due to Honeywell’s addressable access control technology.


Fewer cables between main control panel and distant doors – Honeywell’s access control uses a single pair of wires to connect the door controller to the main system panel. Because of this advanced design, cables for readers, door locks, exit request devices, door position sensors and system tampers connect to a local door controller that then connects to the V-Plex bus. This reduces the amount of cable required for the system and minimizes labor required to route cable between access doors and the control panel.
