Kids always want to do what grown-ups do. Th ey can’t seem to grow up fast enough,

even though as parents we often want to slow down time and keep them young. Dawn
created a dynamic layout about her son’s eagerness to turn four. I love how the photo-
graphs and the colorful circles repeat the numerical theme of getting older – it’s a great
visual. Take a cue from Dawn and ask your subject to demonstrate a pose that will fi t

We are surrounded by numbers every day. For my son, it’s his daily

kindergarten homework (Jimmy’s teacher has been helping him
recognize that 5 does, in fact, belong between 4 and 6 – thank
goodness for professionals!). For me, it’s the alarm clock signaling
the start of the day, for my husband it’s the number of e-mails he
needs to send for work, and for my daughter it’s the score on her
math test. We all have numbers that run our lives, infl uence our day, and remind us of
special occasions.
When we are writing our own story, or the story of someone we care about, it’s telling
to include the signifi cant numbers in our lives. It might be the height and weight of
your newborn baby. Perhaps it’s the date you got your fi rst job, or the number of items
you typically do during the day. Th ere are so many ways to include numbers in our
scrapbooks, and we don’t want to leave them out.
Some great ways to incorporate numbers include writing a numbered list, including
the date of a layout’s events, or even creating a layout about a number that’s especially
signifi cant to you. Th ere are also many products that use numbers: stamps, chipboard
letters, stickers, rub-ons, and so on. However you decide to use numbers, enjoy the
process and include the details!
