Manatees have very small brains. The ratio of their brains to their body size is the lowest of any mammal.


Manatees see well underwater in both dim and bright light.


Manatees have whiskers. These stiff hairs around their mouths relay information to their brains.


Manatees go to the surface every three to five minutes to breathe.
