Mountains in the Sea
Underseas mountains, called seamounts, cover the ocean fl oor. They change ocean currents. This creates unique and thriving ecosystems in the ocean.

1. UPWARD FLOW Ocean water hits the seamount’s base, then pushes upward. The water carries nutrients to the surface. This feeds animals living nearby.
