PASSION MEETS OPPORTUNITY
What keeps this energetic 40-year-old fellow go- ing? “What truly drives me is the ability to build my dreams. We’re only on this planet for a short time so I feel a great sense of accomplishment at being able to change the trajectory of something, such as we did with Mango’s in Miami Beach. We used that successful concept to create a Mango’s in Orlando. It’s so satisfying when I walk into Mango’s and see the wait staff moving to the music, just happy to be there. He is also driven by a deeper need for self-achieve- ment. “Money is not my end-all to be-all. What drives me is self-realization—and actualization— about doing what you love and working with the gifts that God gave you. Money is just a tool and you should never be afraid to fail. likely to consummate a deal faster and more fairly. If you do it halfway, you may become what one of my dear friends calls ‘unconsciously incompetent,’” Wallack says.
Wallack also carefully divides his two worlds of business and family. In work mode, he is quite seri- ous and doesn’t play games. At home, he turns off the phone to be totally present with his family.
He also has a knack for treating his employees with great respect. “People should be able to follow their passion. Work without passion is slavery. So we encourage that same sense of passion with people who work for us. We do all we can to give them ca- reers—not just a job—and have them feel invested in the company. I am most pleased when they feel 10 feet tall,” Wallack says.
As SKYPLEX moves toward a reality, this passion for people and self-achievement is sure to be reflect- ed in this marvelous new entertainment complex.
