Website: We are transitioning our website to be more receptive to the needs of our members. We developed a temporary website as phase one of this transition and it is already in place. The iMIS upgrade mentioned previ- ously will allow AFSA to include more features and share information better than ever. Work with us during this transition. We encourage all members to share their ideas of the “optimal” AFSA website with our leader- ship team. Our ears are open, and we are listening. If you haven’t visited our new temporary website at www.
hqafsa.org, please do so. I think you’ll appreciate what you’ll find.
A LOOK FORWARD
Hello, AFSA nation. As always, thank you for your con- tinued membership and support. Your membership provides AFSA with the power we need to remain the “Voice of the Enlisted.” Please continue to stay the course, and encourage others to join us and make our voice louder than ever in these challenging times. AFSA remains engaged to ensure all Airmen and their families are afforded the highest quality of life possible. However, we cannot do it alone. We need you by our side!
TECHNOLOGY NEWS
AFSA is diligently working to upgrade our current tech- nology base. This work will continue through early 2015. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this exciting and necessary transition. Know we are doing all we can to minimize issues as we soar from good to great! Here are a few highlights.
Membership Tracking and Reporting: AFSA is cur- rently undergoing a major transition to an upgraded version of an association management system called iMIS. Our goal is to complete this challenging conversion by early 2015. When this transition is complete, AFSA’s ability to support and communicate and interact with our members will be greatly improved. Responses to your questions will be faster. Current reports will be more easily accessed. Our membership teams will be able to pull reports on demand. Our events management, information dissemination, and the way we conduct our everyday business will become far more efficient. We look forward to sharing many new and exciting features we will be able to provide as we bring them on board.
The AFSA App: Our initial app was a first attempt to embrace app-based technology and provide our mem- bers with a tool that they could access 24/7 to attain the information they needed. We were successful. As we go forward, we are exploring how to build on that success. We encourage all members to let us know what you feel an app should provide. And we appreciate your patience as we incorporate the possibility of a “version two” app into our communications strategy.
FAMILY FOCUS Our proud Airmen cannot be successful without the support of their families. AFSA recognizes this fact and plans to focus on the family as we move into the New Year 2015. Our hope is that AFSA can become an organization of choice for our family members to join. Family members working side by side with our Airmen will increase our voice in a very positive way. Let me share a few of the highlights.
Chapter Leadership: Family members can now hold any elected office at the Chapter level. This change allows our family members to become more involved in Chapter activities and to help guide them in a direction that makes sense for the whole Chapter community. The needs at every Chapter are different. So ensuring suc- cess for each requires a committed blend of uniformed, retired, Veteran, and family members. We encourage those Chapters with great family programs to share them with us; we will ensure the AFSA world is aware of what you did and the positive impact it has had!
Membership Incentives: We plan to run a membership incentive in 2015 that will allow family members over the age of 18 to become part of the AFSA family for five years. The cost of membership: $25. We hope this incentive will encourage many family members to get involved and increase the “family” footprint of each and every Chapter.
