THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND’S WORK IS UNIQUE BECAUSE ... it works to make a dif- ference in the lives of all Americans. The Trust for Public Land has long understood that all people—regardless of income, ethnicity, or geography—deserve parks, and that all people need a place to rest, rejuvenate, and connect with nature and each other.
I JOINED THE BOARD BECAUSE … The Trust for Public Land works on issues that have long been important to me. The more I learned about the mission to create parks and protect land for people, the more certain I became that this would be a good fit—and I was right!
MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT AS A BOARD MEMBER WAS … moderating an energizing panel discussion on diversity with Hilary Tompkins, the solicitor of the Department of the Interior, and Avi Gar- bow, general counsel of the Environmental Protection Agency.
I SUPPORT THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND BECAUSE … I believe in its core mission: to create parks and protect land for people. I believe it is our civic duty to protect our environment for future generations.
THE KEY CHALLENGE FACING THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND IS … how to leverage its expertise to continue to lead the way in addressing climate change. Climate-Smart Cities™ is a remarkable program that should be deployed nationally.
I FIRST FELL IN LOVE WITH THE NATURAL WORLD WHEN … as a child growing up in New York City I would walk with my sister and brother to Riverside Park on the Hudson River. The park’s calm and natural beauty offered a respite from the hectic, concrete world in which we lived. It made us all very happy!
