Head to Schenectady’s Carosella Memorial Bonspiel, Nov. 4-6

A half-century later, Schenectady Curling Club (SCC) members Becky and Shawn Manore looked for a way to memorial- ize her late father – and so the Carosella Memorial Bonspiel was born. Te couple named the second event trophy, the McLaugh Medal, aſter Shaun’s Irish mother. Karen Hess donated the Chu Medal in honor of her Taiwanese son. In 2005, Dion Warr sponsored the fourth event, since called the Mac Isaac Medal to commemorate his Scottish mother. Te Carosella Memorial Bonspiel is unique in that all named honorees of the four events had never themselves curled. Moreover, the pins honor four different nationalities. 1953, have sent teams to national junior, women’s, and mixed champion- ships as well as the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, and have won countless five & under bonspiels. SCC was a co-founder of the Empire State Bonspiel and has been in rotation as a host club since that bonspiel began in 1955. Te year 2016 also is the 150th


anniversary of the GNCC, to which Schenectady


belongs. Schenectady is part of New York’s capital region and has many parks,
