Football’s MVP: Castings
Several 65,000-lb. steel castings anchor the structure- supporting arches for the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Each steel anchor bears the weight or stress of 19 million pounds of force, or the equivalent of 59 Boeing 777 aircraft.
Woofers in professional stereo equipment are encased in cast metal frames or baskets which are more rigid in all directions and have better damping properties than stamped steel frames.
The Victory Red Chevrolet Camaro awarded to the Super Bowl MVP contains hundreds of pounds of castings. A smaller toy version is available as a collectible diecast car.
