Accuride Corp. Wins Two AME Awards for 2015 T e Association for Manufacturing


Excellence (AME) has announced that Accuride Corp., Evansville, Ind., will receive 2015 AME Excellence Awards for its casting facilities in Erie, Pa., and Rockford, Ill. AME representa-


tives visited both facilities in September to offi cially recognize each. Additionally, both plants will also be honored during the AME 2015 International Conference, Oct. 19-23. T e AME Excellence Award recog-


nizes North American manufacturing plants that have demonstrated excel- lence in manufacturing and business. “Accuride truly embodies what the


AME Excellence Award stands for – achieving excellence throughout the en- terprise,” said Barbara Morrison, presi- dent and CEO, AME. “An achievement this big demonstrates that Accuride employees at all levels are engaged and committed to the lean journey.” Accuride also received the AME


Excellence Award in 2014 for its facility in Henderson, Ky. “Receiving three AME Excel-


lence Awards in two years is a distinct honor for Accuride that demonstrates our ability to install and operate lean systems at multiple sites across our enterprise,” said Rick Dauch, Accuride president and CEO. ■


Eck Joins Critical Materials Institute


T e Critical Materials Institute


(CMI), an Energy Innovation Hub of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has announced Eck Indus- tries Inc., Manitowoc, Wis., as a new member in research and innovation. Eck Industries joins seven private sector members in partnership with four DOE national labs and seven universities. T e group will collaborate in CMI’s


research to address shortages of rare- earth and other critical materials. CMI’s research eff orts target three goals: diversifying supply, discovering substi- tute materials, and developing tools and processes for recycling materials. “I’ve rarely seen a project move as fast as our work with Eck In- dustries,” said Alex King, director, CMI. “There is a unique synergy between their expertise, the tools and capabilities of the other CMI institutions, a really interesting new alloy, and a use for an element that is currently produced in excess.” Eck Industries specializes in


structural aluminum castings for the military, aviation, construction and automotive industries. ■
