Oahu is the Gathering Place, and it shows; more tourists, most of the state’s population, more in the way of Bright Lights Big City. Rounds: The North Shore is famous for its Olympian surf break. It also harbors what could be the island’s best getaway golf (and family) resort, Turtle Bay. The Arnold Palmer Course winds strategically through ironwood trees and marsh, with an eye-candy ocean backdrop toward the end of the round and is an ideal layout to try a Golf Board. Royal Hawaiian Golf Club is a raucous, adven- turous romp folded into the fins and gorges of the forest primeval Ko’olau Range east of Honolulu. Stock up on ammo; wear a GPS beacon just in case.
