EdgeTec and PierceTec
EdgeTec, one of Precitec’s
newest technology packages, enables laser machines to cut metal sheets of more than 30mm. As an extension to Precitec’s ProCutter cutting head, EdgeTec offers a larger adjustment range for the focus position of lasers, allowing single compact cutting heads to be used as all-around solutions for applications requiring high cutting speeds with brilliant edge quality. Precitec’s other latest technology package,
PierceTec, enables autonomous piercing with high speed and excellent quality. PierceTec monitors the progress of piercing constantly in a complex control process, where it optimises laser parameters in real time based on received data. The package minimises the heat affected zone and piercing holes of lasers, and only needs to be started by the user after they indicate the type and thickness of a material using a simple program selection.

CL WRX Software
Concept Laser now offers a new software tool, CL WRX Parameter, for its LaserCusing machines. The software enables all parameter characteristics to be viewed and modified as absolute values. The user therefore has access to the same tools that the development department at Concept Laser uses to develop parameters. The software can be stored on a PC and can be edited directly at an office workstation. For all
SAFETY Laser safety curtain enclosures
Laser Components offers a range of laser safety enclosures – permanent structures that support either a fabric or concertinered metal curtain. These enclosures are designed to block high power laser radiation, surround laser machines – or alternatively, whole rooms – and allow other site workers to work without the need for laser safety eyewear. Each enclosure contains the required curtains, rails, and mounting brackets for a floor, wall, ceiling, or a combination installation.

Bystronic has introduced a 10kW fibre laser to increase the production speed of sheet metal parts on its ByStar Fiber laser cutting machine. The ByStar Fiber is now available with a sheet capacity of 4 x 2m in addition to the already existing 3 x 1.5m version. The 10kW source increases cutting speeds by up to four times that of industry-standard 4kW fibre lasers. The greatest speed benefits are achieved in material thicknesses between 3-12mm, although the high power also enables the productive cutting of sheet thicknesses up to 30mm. Preco’s new Lightning Bolt 2000 laser system can be used for processing highly
accurate micro features on metallic, ceramic and polymer materials. The system is customisable to accommodate a wide range of infrared, green and ultraviolet wavelengths for nanosecond, picosecond and femtosecond lasers. Typical processes include ablation via drilling, surface texturing, and cutting. The system works on Windows OS and has a full graphical CAD interface with the ability to

The in-house development incorporates a function called Spot Control, which automatically shapes the laser beam and adapts the focal point with high precision. Cutting quality is optimised without operator intervention across a broad mix of materials, from thin to thick, including stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, and ferrous metals.
