Spring has sprung in northern Europe – Research Information’s part of the world – and in the scholarly publishing community

the conference season is getting into full swing. We have reports from the APE 2016 meeting in Berlin in February, London’s Researcher to Reader meeting, and from the Jisc Digifest in Birmingham, UK, held last month. In addition, we look forward to the UKSG 39th Annual Conference and Exhibition to be held in Bournemouth, UK, the London Book Fair, as well as the SLA- AGC event being held in Kuwait in April. Members of the research community have long been recognised as keen users of social media – and on page 4 Rebecca Pool looks at the ways in which researchers are collecting, archiving and interrogating data from Twitter, Facebook and the like. On page 10 Robert Roe solicits the views of industry experts on the latest developments around ebooks and ebook aggregation services, while on page 14 we follow an intriguing discussion around the development of scholarly collaboration networks.

As usual, we have an array of contributed analysis article including an outspoken piece by Rafael Ball of the ETH-Library in Zurich, Switzerland.

In June we will be at the SSP Annual Meeting in Vancouver; our next issue will feature a supplement on scholarly publishing in North America. If you would like to contribute, please get in touch – by email, in person, or via social media! @researchinfo
