Tembé DIY and Building Products Raises £11,000.00 for Children with
Cancer UK Doncaster based Tembé DIY and Building Products has raised £11,000 for Children with Cancer UK. For every promotional pack of HIPPO Heavy Duty Trade Wipes sold, Tembé donated 50p to Children with Cancer. Guy Malam, Managing
Director of Tembé DIY & Building Products Ltd, Kevin Heath, Sales Director, Neil Herd, Andrew Baker, Marketing Directors and Victoria Nicholson attended a cheque presentation at Children with Cancer UK’s head office in Great Ormond Street, London on the 4th November 2016 with Francesca Borrelli from Children with Cancer UK. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to
the fight against childhood cancer. Funding life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and working to protect young lives through essential welfare programmes. Keen employees at Tembé DIY & Building Products Ltd also raised money by
taking part in various runs. Guy Malam and his fiancée Victoria Nicholson took part in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon, Kevin Heath took part in the Bournemouth Marathon, and 7 of the team took part in the Isle of Axholme Half Marathon. Guy Malam explains why he chose to support Children with Cancer UK:
“Cancer is the biggest child-killer disease in the UK. Tembé are proud to continue doing our part to help raise money for a cure.” Francesca Borrelli from Children with Cancer UK said: “We are delighted that
Tembé DIY chose to support Children with Cancer UK this year. Their fundraising efforts have been amazing and we cannot thank them enough for their enthusiasm and commitment. Around 4,000 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK, which is why our work is so vital. This valued gift will massively contribute towards our life saving research, so from all of us at the charity, please accept our renewed and heartfelt thanks.”
National Flooring Equipment Surface preparation expert National Flooring Equipment is pleased to offer free personalised training for distribution partners and potential customers across Europe. The company has recently announced its European expansion and now offers in-person training sessions for all of its products including floor strippers, grinders and shot blasters. The training explains how to set up, use and maintain surface preparation equipment to ensure operators get the maximum return on investment. In the UK, training is available for the range of surface preparation products
that National Flooring Equipment offers. The hands-on training allows end users to get to grips with its surface preparation machines and use the equipment until they are confident they can perform jobs quickly and efficiently. National Flooring Equipment’s industry expert Dave Bigham has coordinated
the company’s training for the last five years. Bigham developed the workshop- based training programme using his extensive flooring industry experience in combination with customer feedback. “There are some common misconceptions when it comes to surface preparation equipment. Customers often purchase large, heavy-duty machines without realising that small, compact machines are up to the job,” he explained. “The training programme explains to customers how they can really achieve return on investment, by using the right equipment for the right application, in the right way.” National Flooring Equipment also boasts an extensive online video training
library, which can be accessed on its website free of charge. This includes tutorials on grinding, scraping, shotblasting and scarifying. To get in touch with National Flooring Equipment to arrange a tailored training session visit:

Association The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) is celebrating double victory at the Derbyshire Times Business Awards on 10 November. An audience of local business leaders assembled at the Casa Hotel saw UKATA ‘Highly Commended’ in the Small Business of the Year category and UKATA General Manager Craig Evans named Business Person of the Year. Held every year, The Derbyshire Times Business Awards recognise and
celebrate the very best in local business and commerce and this double success is recognition of a highly successful 2016 for UKATA. The Markham Vale office has spearheaded a series of successful national initiatives, including Train Safe, Work Safe, Keep Safe; with UKATA members offering free asbestos awareness training to small businesses throughout the country. While UKATA is
a national organisation with members throughout the UK, the Association does a great deal of work in the region, both on asbestos awareness and training and in support of local charities. Earlier this year Craig and colleague Sasha Brailsford’s charity skydive raised money for The British Lung Foundation, which contributed towards the donation of over £10,000 to the national charity. UKATA also sponsored the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Chesterfield Volunteer Centre Awards this year, supporting their initiatives of working to promote volunteering across Derbyshire. Tasked by the HSE in 2008 for taking-on, managing and developing the list of
training providers for licensed asbestos work in the UK, UKATA is now the leading authority in all levels of asbestos training in the UK. For further information on UKATA, visit
