Alan James, Chair of EFDSS, said: "I am delighted that Ian, John, Marilyn, Paul, and Rollo have been recognised for the important role they have played in their individual fields. All of them have helped to inspire, support and inform generations of folk fans which enables the traditional English folk arts to continue to thrive. They are all very well- deserved awards."

We were very surprised to
hear that Chris Wade, one of the original founding members of Beverley Folk Festival, and its artistic director for all of its 33 years, is no longer to be involved in future events. “I received an email from the Beverley Folk Festival directors terminating my contract with the festival – giving me a month’s notice,” she says. “This was a total shock to me as I have dedicated the last 33 years of my life to the festival and with the help of others, developed it into what has become one of the major festivals in this country… I do not want my departure to be perceived as voluntary and to confirm that I would never abandon the festival in such a manner.”
We bid a sad farewell with many thanks to our long time reviews editor and fashion footwear maven Stella Washburn who has been on lengthy leave following a cocktail incident. Sarah Coxson will take over full duties tending the review CDs mountain, and the bar.
Apologies to both Paul Slade
and Jerome Clark for a miscredited CD review last month. The Pokey LaFarge review should have been credited to Paul Slade.
