Zierer


The German manufacturer is currently developing a new Advanced Dark Ride System – as pictured – which will make its debut in May. According to Zierer's Marina Ernst-Weiderer, it will combine 3D/4D effects with intercativity and movement including pitch & roll, 360° gondola rotation and a scissor lift table moving a vehicle to different levels. Depending on the chosen storyline, the system can be supplemented by interactivity like wind, fog, audio, scorer display and light effects. Clients are free to choose their own producer/partner for the scenic and media elements. Zierer is also occupied with many other projects. It is currrenty fabricating a stone-themed Kontiki raft ride with


a 24-seater boat and 19m (62ft) track for the small German park Erlebnispark Steinau, in the state of Hesse. A Force Two Family Coaster is destined for Prinzenpark, France, while two rides are going to a park in Turkey, a Force II Family Coaster and Jet Skis. Four rides, including a Force II Family Coaster, Flying Fish, Kontiki and Family Tower, are headed to the new Kownaty Park in Poland. A 9 gondola Jet Ski is set for Plopsa's Holiday Park in Germany, while a double 9 Jet Ski is going to a park in China. Mention of other Zierer projects are protected by agreement of confidentiality; you know how it goes


Huss Park Attractions


Huss is to deliver Russia's first flying theatre to a new theme park in Moscow. Soaring Above the Dinosaurs will appear at the Dream Island park being developed by Regions Entertainment and set to open in 2018. “Our Movie Base XS is an exciting new design


for Soaring Above the Dinosaurs and we are proud to deliver the first model to Dream Island,” says Huss Park Attractions CEO Mirko J Schulze, “The ride will create a perfect adventure for the whole family and we are sure it will be a big success for the park.” Desitined for parks in India is a suspended seat


Top Spin and a 40-seat Giant Frisbee. A Vietnamese park will receive a 63m (207ft) Shot 'n' Drop Maxi tower with 28 seats. Two Observation Towers, each measuring 120m-tall (394ft, are scheduled for Chinese parks, as is Huss' eighth King Kong ride.


Ride Entertainment Group


Representing several manufacturers, Ride Entertainment Group's (REG) sales are strong this year. France's Parc Astérix is installing a reversing family coaster from Gerstlauer similar to Firechaser Express at Dollywood whilst, already anounced in these pages, a Gerstlauer Infinity Shuttle Coaster –as pictured below – is scheduled to open in Slagharen in the Netherlands. A compact Gerstlauer Eurofighter is rising on Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey (see page 18). Funtime Star Flyers are going to Six Flags


America in Maryland, Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado, and Valleyfair, Minnesota. Another previously announced project is the 200ft-tall Skyfall drop tower from Funtime going into Dollywood, Tennessee. A Crazy Couch kids ride from Skyline is on its way to Toy Town in Saudi Arabia.

China-based Songcheng Performance Development has announced plans to build a theme park in Queensland, Australia, according to The Australian Financial Review. The AUS$400 million (US$290/€275m) Australian Legendary Kingdom park, targeted at Chinese tourists, would feature such themed lands as Mysterious Orient and Aboriginal Cultural Village, as well as a stage show called Wild Australia.


The Wanda Group has awarded Premier Rides a major contract to design and build an unspecified first- of-its-kind attraction.


Now closed again after celebrating the festive season, Santa’s Village Azoosment Park, East Dundee, Illinois (USA) will be adding a rollercoaster for 2017. Designed and built by the Italian manufcaturer Interpark, the ride is called Super Cyclone and will be the tallest, longest and fastest coaster in the park’s history, reaching a top speed of 30 mph (48kmh). The park reopens in May and the new ride is expected to be up and running by the summer.


Extreme Engineering has joined forces with S&S – Sansei to jointly sell and distribute the Cloud Coaster zipline ride. S&S is also partnering with Holovis to develop the Immersive Elevator Media Coaster, a full rollercoaster featuring media content and an elevator drop. More next issue and at parkworld- online.com


Colin Bryan, chief executive of England's Drayton Manor theme park, has been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in the New Years Honours in recognition of his charity work and ongoing comittment to tourism. His late father George, who founded the park near Tamworth in 1950, received an OBE of his own in 2004.


HB Leisure has landed a contract to operate midway games at Luna Park, Coney Island, the New York City based amusement park run by Zamperla affiliated company Central Amusement International.


Jonathan Ruffler, the man who brought the UK's first open air spectacular of its kind to the North East in the shape of Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, has been named been named Philanthropist of the Year at the Spear's Wealth Management Awards. The second season of Kynren, produced by Eleven Arches at Auckland Castle in partnership with the famous French entertainment park Puy Du Fou, kicks off its 10-weekend run on July 1. Bookings are now being taken at kynren.co.uk

DP Leisure, headed by Duncan Philipps, is to open its fifth 360 Play FEC outlet in the UK. The new outlet in Redditch, south of Birmingham, will opens next month, when it will join a porfolio that also includes 360 Play Milton Keynes, Leicester, Stevenage and Basildon.

The UK theming company Scruffy Dog Design, Create & Deliver has invested in six 40ft trailers to transport bespoke scenery and themed elements across the European Union in the next year. The fast-growing firm hopes to add a further six trailers in the next 18 months as it estabishes a presence in the Middle East.
