COMPRESSORS
preventive maintenance, digital networks enable us to pre-empt issues, dramatically increasing reliability and minimising downtime. In the event of a breakdown, contractors can
diagnose a problem remotely and identify work that needs to be done prior to attending site. Any replacement components required can be sourced in advance, so everything is on-hand for a first- time fix. Overcoming the need for multiple visits to inspect and diagnose the problem, and then return to repair and replacement parts, delivers major savings.
How is data collected from working systems? IQ modules connect to the digital network via a
gateway. Each unit can be registered and viewed on customers’ accounts via myBITZER. In each case it shows compressor status, operating temperatures and pressures, diagnostics, and any warnings and alarms. Is analysis done automatically by BITZER software within the digital network, or does raw data have to be analysed locally by the customer? There is no need for customers to export data to another program. Users simply log into their account and run a report from inside the BDN. This can be customised in multiple ways to zero-in on particular issues, and over various time-frames.
There are increasing concerns over online safety. What protections are there to ensure data security? Data security is a priority for BITZER. The network uses the highest standards of encryption and online security. Password-protected accounts on myBitzer are assigned to individual users, with different types of user given access to different types and levels of information. This tiered approach is important given the richness of data available.
Do you have a feel for the percentage of installed
compressors out there that are currently equipped with digital reporting tools? It is hard to estimate. The reality is, intelligent systems are just beginning to be rolled out in substantial numbers. Although building from a relatively low base, we anticipate the network will grow rapidly as the advantages become apparent and – importantly – when customers come to trust the new approach. My view is it won’t be long before remote
reporting systems becomes the default solution. The benefits speak for themselves, and once customers experience this it will become a no- brainer.
How can contractors access the BITZER Digital Network?
Simply go to the Bitzer website at
bitzer.de, and follow the link to myBITZER. You can then register an individual account, or a ‘company account’ for employees. Systems looked after are assigned to the account and can then be viewed. An account can also be set up for an end user, with all their sites and giving the authorised contractor access.
It is that simple – but opens the door to a new world of possibilities with benefits for everyone.
