WONDERWARE IRELAND HOSTS NEXT GENERATION CONFERENCE

Wonderware Ireland is hosting a special event on 29 March 2017 at Fota Island Resort, Cork where it will give manufacturers and system integrators an exclusive look at the company’s new developments. The Next Generation Roadshow will

explore Wonderware’s latest innovations and provide delegates with a greater understanding of the future of the industrial landscape and how they can ensure they are prepared for it. The day will begin with a look into the digitisation advancements within industrial

automation before discussing the OT (operational technology) networking landscape and managing operational Big Data. Wonderware Ireland will introduce its Next Generation SCADA, developed to provide greater simplicity, flexibility and scope. Improvements include an enhanced UI visual experience with ‘out-of-the- box’ content and process visualisation standards, web-based access and a heightened ability to access and aggregate IIoT data. An optional afternoon session will see Systems Architects take attendees through a

practical workshop. This will allow them to get hands-on with the technologies that are bringing connected and future-proof industrial environments into fruition before closing with an opportunity to discuss issues one-on-one with Wonderware’s technical experts. “Following the success of the new- concept Wonderware event late last year we decided to bring the roadshow back to Fota Island Resort,” says regional manager for Ireland Aidan Finnegan. “The event will give manufacturing organisations and

COULD SEMI-PERMANENT BUILDINGS BE KEY ENABLER TO EXPORT GROWTH?

A

number of areas have been identified as opportunities for

manufacturing growth in Ireland building on its strengths and capabilities. Lean principles, adoption of ICTs and the sustainable agenda are pervasive as are likely changes to smarter ways of doing business. Ireland needs to continue to keep abreast of change and refresh its proposition to attract investment from foreign businesses, start-ups and Irish firms across manufacturing and related activities.

Businesses in Ireland are being urged to consider the use of semi- permanent buildings for storage and manufacturing as the lack of space and increases in warehousing rental costs are becoming a barrier to expansion and economic growth, according to Spaciotempo. “The use of temporary or semi-

permanent warehousing can be a key enabler for growth in the export market,” says managing director Scott Jameson. “The increase in the export market which Ireland has witnessed in recent years is a real success story and great news for the Irish economy but the current situation regarding warehouse solutions is now becoming critical. For Ireland to sustain growth it needs to consider alternative options. Current models are not sustainable in the long term. Temporary or semi-permanent

warehousing solutions are both more cost-effective and quicker to install than permanent buildings, offering a viable and innovative alternative and putting control back in the hands of businesses. “As Ireland becomes stronger,

taking full advantage of trading with the US and Europe together with its low corporate tax rate, the booming export market is providing businesses with a conundrum regarding storage space while putting landlords in control which is leading to rent increases. We urge Irish exporters to consider temporary or semi-permanent warehouse space; structures that can be installed and removed quickly in line with demand, providing a sustainable solution for a country whose warehouse space is at bursting point.” www.spaciotempo.co.uk

system integrators a chance to get a look at new and upcoming concepts as well as giving them hands-on demonstrations to help future-proof their business. The event has been planned to ensure delegates get the most out of it with our specialist team of technical consultants on hand to ensure attendees leave more informed about the new products and services which are continuing to keep their systems more secure than ever.” Delegates must register in advance

KILWAUGHTER INVESTS £5M AND CREATES JOBS

A County Antrim manufacturer is set to invest £5m and create up to 30 jobs over the next two years. Kilwaughter Minerals provides specialist products for the construction and agriculture sectors. The proposed investment comes in response to what it has described as "the most positive market conditions in recent years" with the company hoping to capitalise on both the UK's reinvigorated housebuilding sector and Ireland's agri-sector by investing in plant equipment and infrastructure. "As we move toward a culture of innovation and strive to meet our ambitious growth targets, good people are a number one priority,” says managing director Simon McDowell. "We currently have a strong pipeline of work and with the help of a motivated workforce are confident of meeting all our customers' needs. We believe there are challenges and opportunities ahead and with a potential market upturn we look forward to a growth phase in the business." www.kilwaughter.com

I/O for the most extreme conditions

WAGO’s I/O system, 750 XTR, is extremely weather resistant and can operate from -40 °C up to +70 °C, making additional heating or cooling equipment unnecessary. It is immune to electromagnetic interference as well as insensitive to vibrations and impulse voltages up to 5 kV, ensuring secure communications in demanding applications. With up to 16 channels in a 12 mm wide housing it requires less space, and has lower energy and maintenance costs; taking automation into extreme environments.
