Renesas Electronics delivers all-in-one ADAS view solution kit for autonomous driving
R
enesas Electronics, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, has announced a new all- in-one Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) view solution kit. Expanding the success of the first- generation ADAS surround view kit that was launched on October 8, 2015, Renesas’ second-generation ADAS view solution kit with up to eight cameras realises next-generation electronic mirrors, driver monitoring and surround view systems all at the same time. Viewing applications are seen as one of the next comfort and safety features on the road towards autonomous driving. It has also become a standard in autonomous driving and ADAS applications to enable sensor fusion which combines and processes the collected information from automotive cameras and radars for vehicles to recognise their surroundings. 360 degree surround view is expected to become an essential feature available in all vehicle segments. Additionally, mirrors will be replaced by cameras, and driver monitoring features will be required for autonomous driving and to increase safety. Camera-based electronic mirrors will allow object detection, the modification of viewing angles and zooming. Driver monitoring will help to build safe, autonomous driving level 3-and-beyond vehicles that still

demand intervention by the driver in some situations, and will be able to monitor driver attention in conventional cars. To address these changes, Renesas launched the all-in-one ADAS view solution kit that includes the recently-announced “R-Car Starter Kit Premier” automotive software development environment, which is based on the R-Car H3 system-on-chip (SoC), as well as the required sample
application software for ADAS application software development and calibration software to correct distortion of the images for surround view. The up to eight automotive cameras of the solution kit allow developers to collect data from the environment for sensor fusion, being a necessary step towards autonomous drive.

NXP introduces industry’s smallest 8-pin GX Logic Package for mobile, portable and IoT applications
N
XP Semiconductors has introduced the world’s smallest leadless logic package for 8 lead logic functions. Measuring just 0.8mm x 1.35mm and only 0.35 mm in height, the GX 8 (SOT1233) package is especially suitable for mobile, portable and IoT applications as it not only saves space and has a more rugged design, it also reduces PCB assembly costs. The new GX 8 leadless package
addresses the continual trend in electronic systems towards smaller and smaller packages, low-power consumption and low system costs. Previously, NXP has released 5- and 6- pin functions in the GX package. Now with the availability of the 8-pin package, most Mini Logic functions are available making it simpler for design
and production engineers to respond to market requirements. Similarly, design cycle times
are being reduced, so it’s not always possible to include all the features that are eventually required using a single chip solution. NXP’s logic devices are used to provide the interface between the different ASICs and with this new introduction, most AXP, AUP and LVC functions are now available in a GX package, addressing designers’ needs for the largest spectrum of standard logic functions in the smallest package possible.
TI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components, and Mouser, the leading NPI distributor, were working hand in hand at Electronica to demonstrate the power offered by the combination of the two companies. Geoff Breed, vice president, marketing Europe at TTI, said, “Mouser does a great job seeding the market with new products. TTI is then able to follow up with all the local support, inventory and logistics programs which enable a design project to move into pre and then full production.” Mark Burr-Lonnon, senior vice
president marketing, Europe and Asia at Mouser agrees: “The design cycle and the production cycle require very different support activities. We place a lot of emphasis on ensuring that the market has the resources and tools to make the best decision on which technologies to choose during the development and prototyping stage. TTI then does an excellent job to ensure that complex supply chain issues are addressed as production ramps up.”
The two companies remain focused on their market approach so they can specialise and address the demands of their respective customer bases. However, TTI and Mouser also work very closely together, especially when building relationships with suppliers that they have in common. Both Breed and Burr-Lonnon agree that supplier partnerships are essential to delivering the best service to customers. Burr- Lonnon said, “We regularly win awards from our suppliers relating to winning new customers.” Breed added, “Our focused line card of industry-leading suppliers enables TTI to build unique partnerships, which means we can support the demands of our customers even better. Whether for stock or design, the strength of our supplier partnerships is a major factor in helping us deliver what is required.”

Knowles brand, DLI introduces new ‘Xtreme Broadband Blocking’ range K
nowles brand DLI is establishing a range of broadband blocking components under the ‘Xtreme
Broadband Blocking Components’ heading. Existing parts, like Opti-Cap, Milli-Cap, MLC Broadband Blocks and RF Blocking Networks, will be included, as well as new ones. The first of which is the PX range for DC blocking applications up to 40 GHz.

The PX series provide design engineers with high-reliability solutions for DC blocking in a wide variety of applications - semiconductor data communications, receiver optical subassemblies, transimpedance amplifiers and test equipment. Adding to DLI’s performance leading OptiCap, which provides DC blocking performance from 16 KHz to 40 GHz, is this new PX Series. The PX series
provides a surface mount, low cost, solution that exhibits ultra broadband performance, extremely low insertion loss, low frequency stability and excellent return loss across the wide bandwidth.
It has been developed to
complement the existing MilliCap and OptiCap broadband devices but in a more shallow profile. Rated at 16VDC from -55°C to +125°C, the new PX

series ultra-broadband capacitors initially feature a 0402 case size and X7R dielectric characteristics at 100 nF - a 0201 sized version, currently available in MiliCap and OptiCap series, will follow shortly. This smaller package size makes for easier pick and place assembly, whilst not compromising on the bandwidth performance.
