Bulgin launches M Series interconnects at
electronica 2016 Bulgin has unveiled a new range of industrial automation components at this year’s electronica exhibition. This bi-annual event, which took place from the 8th to the 11th of November in Munich, was the first opportunity to see the new M Series interconnects, which have been designed to offer flexible connectivity solutions for a variety of rugged automation applications.
The M Series includes a range of sizes and pin configurations – from 3 to 19 pins – and is designed for use in industries requiring exceptionally reliable and robust connections, from automotive production and machine
building to food and beverage processing. A variety of connector types and keying options are available – as well as both straight and right-angled versions – providing end-to-end automation connectivity for almost any situation.

COMBIMET enclosures METCASE is manufacturing its bestselling COMBIMET 19” rack mount enclosures in ever deeper and larger custom sizes.
Latest custom orders for COMBIMET have included 800 mm deep (1U to 8U) versions that offer significantly more space than the 265 mm and 365 mm deep standard cases.
METCASE has also custom manufactured a non-rack (non-19”) version of COMBIMET – 500 mm x 800 mm x 200 mm – for an application that involved ceiling-mounted electronics. Thus demonstrating how versatile this enclosure design is.
Standard COMBIMET is a 19” rack mounted enclosure for networking and communications, industrial control, sound and studio systems and laboratory instrumentation.
It is a bestseller for METCASE, prompting the launch of open top and other versions.
All COMBIMET enclosures offer complete access to the PCBs: the top, base and rear panels are removable. The top and base can be specified as either vented or unvented.
Features include ergonomic front panel handles plus mounting holes for PCBs and chassis. There are M4 earth studs on all components for electrical continuity.
COMBIMET aluminium enclosures are available as standard from 1U to 6U in either light grey (RAL 7035) or black (RAL 9005). Cases are supplied fully assembled. Prices start at £68 for the standard versions.
Accessories include a PCB mounting kit; 19” mounting kits in black or light grey and two aluminium mounting plates (335 x 230 x 1.5 mm and 335 x 330 x 1.5 mm).

Advanced production plant will
build 9000 enclosures daily Rittal is expanding its production capabilities and has begun building what it says will be the World’s most advanced production plant for compact enclosures. It is under construction in Haiger, Germany and completion is scheduled for 2018. Haiger will act as a pilot and model for upgrades at other Rittal sites throughout the world.
According to Rittal, total capital expenditure will amount to 250 million euros, making it the largest single investment in the company’s 55 year history. When complete, the 24000m² Haiger facility will manufacture 9000 enclosures a day from 300 standard types, in accordance with each customer’s specific needs.
Digital technology will play a key role, as will machining and assembly tools from Rittal Automation Systems’ portfolio. Materials will be transported across the plant by means of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), dispensing with human operators. Intelligent systems, with machine-learning abilities will be deployed to continuously increase system availability, and to predictively order spare parts, reducing the likelihood of unplanned downtime due to wear and tear.
There will be corresponding upgrades to two other plants in the region, and the construction of a further plant for large stainless-steel enclosures.
