embeddedworld 2017 The world’s leading fair for embedded
technologies – embedded world 2017 Have you already saved the date for the world’s biggest gathering of embedded experts? Three days, six exhibition halls, more than 900 exhibitors: once again in 2017, the embedded sector will come together at the exhibition centre, Nuremberg for its 15th year. Here you can experience innovations before their official market introduction, because the embedded world Exhibition&Conference is the international hotspot for everything connected with embedded systems for modern hard and software. Its clear alignment with this sector makes it the unique trade fair worldwide for developers, design engineers and decision-makers
T
he success story of the embedded world Exhibition&Conference continues: already, the exhibition space reserved is higher than last year and is set to increase even more. For the first time, 1000 exhibitors are expected to take part in the event in Nuremberg from 14 to 16 March 2017. These figures once again highlight the fact that this exhibition on all aspects of embedded systems is the number one international platform for the sector. “The embedded world event is continuing its success story and looks likely to grow in size once again in 2017,” said Benedikt Weyerer, exhibition director, embedded world at NürnbergMesse. “We have already exceeded the display area from the last event but that is not the only piece of good news: for the first time we expect 1000 exhibitors to take part in 2017. This once again underscores the fact that embedded world is the number one gathering of the international embedded community.”
One trade fair – two congresses Two top-class congresses, the embedded world conference and the electronic displays conference, will be supporting the efficiency and innovative strength of the global embedded industry with first-class specialist knowledge. The central objectives of the conferences are to provide specifically targeted knowledge, to highlight trends and current themes, to offer a glimpse into the future and to facilitate a dialogue between experts. In 2017 the spotlight will once again be on the highly topical issues of “Internet of Things” and “Security & Safety”. The keynote speeches will be held by Rick Clemmer, CEO of NXP and Riccardo Mariani, chief functional safety technologist at Intel. The embedded world conference covers the
entire range of hardware, software and tools for the development of embedded systems. In 2017, one of the main thematic focus areas will be “Securely connecting the embedded world”. The success of the embedded world conference is rooted in the direct involvement of the entire embedded community. The conference contents, carefully put together by an international jury, guarantee the necessary knowledge transfer and the annual exploration of the latest developments and trends. The electronic displays conference has become established as the most important European B2B platform for display technologies. The topics discussed range from current display technologies like LCD, OLED or ePaper through flexible and 3D displays to GUIs and touch screens. In addition, the conference will also look at the wide range of applications for electronic

displays and the development of the market. The lecture programmes for the embedded world and electronic displays conferences are available from
www.embedded-world.eu and
www.electronic-displays.de. “The range of topics relating to the development of embedded systems is growing rapidly. But thanks to their clear structure and focus on the main changes, both congresses are tailored precisely to meet the needs of developers and provide them with practical solutions to current issues,” said Professor Matthias Sturm, exhibition council chair and conference chair, Steering Board embedded world conference. In 2017 once again, the focused programmes of the embedded world Conference and the electronic displays conference will convincingly show the trade world that the focus here is on topical, high-quality, very precise specialist knowledge.
Special display areas At the electronic displays area, exhibitors will showcase display technologies, flexible displays, human- machine interfaces, GUIs, touch screens and 3D displays. “The interest by exhibitors was once again so great that this area is already fully booked,” says Weyerer. “This shows the great importance of this topic, which is also reflected in the electronic displays conference.” The M2M area, which presents the latest
products and applications from the machine-to- machine field, is almost at full capacity, while the safety & security area is also on track for success. The focus of this area is on how to design attack-proof hardware and software and protect embedded systems from cyber-attacks.
Panel discussion
Following the major success of its inaugural edition in 2016, a second panel discussion will be held at the embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2017 on 15 March, its second day. Under the slogan “Safe for the Future”, discussion at the event will revolve around the security of embedded systems in the Internet of Things. Prof. Christof Paar, chair for Embedded Security at Ruhr-University Bochum, Arne Schönbohm, president of the German Federal Office for Information Security and Tyson Tuttle, CEO and president of Silicon Labs, have already accepted an invitation to speak.
Student day
The student day is well established as one of the highlights of the embedded world Exhibition&Conference and 2017 will be the eighth time it has been held. The highlight on the morning of the third day will be a keynote presentation on the Internet of Uncanny Things by Sascha Wolter, senior manager, Connected Home at Deutsche Telekom AG. He will talk about how designers and developers can live up to their responsibility to ensure security and privacy in the Internet of Things as everday objects become smarter and are designed to know more about their users.
