“June was again difficult month, weather was wet although mild not conducive for selling sandals .Norwich is in total SALE mood so we have taken steps to reduce certain styles which has helped .Local forecast is for July to improve so hopefully that will help sales .I guess we all have to do what we feel is right and move on hoping the Autumn weather comes by early October, rather than experience an Indian summer.” Roger Hare, Middletons, Norwich.


“We had had an excellent time in May selling right across the collections from Earth Spirit at £40 to Fly London and Mjus closer to the £100 ticket. When June arrived the product mix changed and price became a major factor. Earth Spirit has been our best performer by a long way outselling Rieker for the first time. , of DAVID ROBERTS - Shoes of Distinction – LLANDUDNO, Wales, who celebrated 50 years in the Shoe Trade this year. The shop, which Andrew inherited from his father, David Roberts, celebrated 94 years of Shoe Fitting in May 2016.


Aged 15, Andrew took over the shop from his father, David Roberts, when he suffered from a stroke in 1967. His father died some 3 years later from a massive heart attack at the age of 55 having never worked in the shop again after his stroke. Andrew says: “With the help of dedicated staff and several trusted footwear agents and representatives, I set about learning about this wonderful trade and after 50 years I will always admit that I am still learning.”
