Showtime!
t’s August and Showtime again! I hope the sun will be shining where you are by the time you read this Comment, as I’m writing in July from a very soggy Kent, where it’s hardly stopped raining
since May! The weather was a popular topic among footwear retailers who
responded to Best Sellers this month, including this one from a retailer in not so sunny Surrey: “June....what a wash out!!! And the sales reflect this. We are in Sale now, this is helping but overall June was one of the worst months of the year. Fingers crossed for a great back to school!” Amen to that! As usual, I’m not off to the south of France this month. I’ll be
spending August out of the sun’s rays (should it ever take its hat off) at the shoe shows in London Olympia and Birmingham NEC, namely Pure and Moda, to bring you the latest trends. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with members of the Footwear Today Best Sellers Panel and many old friends from the footwear industry. As well as previews of MODA and GDS, Dusseldorf, in this issue we
are featuring a review of Expo Riva Schuh, Riva Del Garda. Whilst, gleaning insight into what’s likely to be flying off your shelves next summer, you might care to check out our Editor’s Choice pages 24-28. We have selected a bevy of beautiful sandals and slingbacks from Europe’s top manufacturers and those from further afield, for your lady customers in SS17. September 2016 at the Copthorn Tara Hotel, in London Kensington. I strongly recommend retailers finding the time to visit this worthwhile Show. Also, on the same dates, you might like to visit The Kensington Shoe Event, to be held at the Kensington Close Hotel, nearby the Copthorne Tara Hotel,a five minute walk from High Street Kensington Underground Station.
