he price of moving to a new site often prohibits growth. CopriSystems

provider of clothes for schools, found the perfect partner in CopriSystems to help them meet the high volume of orders from parents ordering clothes for the new school year. The period translates into more time-sensitive work for the operations team, 24 hours a day for an eight-week period, requiring more space to ensure the myriad of orders are picked and packed on time and accurately. An increasingly busy peak period meant


the company was forced to hire off-site premises to cope with mounting demand. While this relieved the issue it split the workforce and was an expensive solution. CopriSystems built a temporary extension measuring just under 4,000 sq ft. allowing the company to carry out stock counts much more quickly. "We had issues with floor capacity in


terms of working space, not storage space," explains commercial director Paul Walker. "The extension was transformed into a different layout every day to cope with the changing challenges we face in our very dynamic peak period. It helped us manage costs very well and now we have options.” For many commercial directors like Paul the addition of even a small working area offers the freedom to change their whole approach, particularly during peak periods. "We were using hired off-site premises to cope with the peak season,” adds Paul. “We've had to move people out into the car park at times when elongating shifts didn't quite cope with peak periods. We put a project together using the rationale that we could offset external storage costs by building a temporary building


on-site on an existing concrete area. We saw a number of companies and products including tents and more formal structures. CopriSystems stood out. MD Rafe Colenso came in, measured up, took the brief, produced drawings and guidance on what he could produce and to be honest it was hardly any contest. He was designing a genuinely bespoke solution while the rest were looking to shoehorn an existing product in." Rafe believes the whole service is what


makes companies like Sportswear International and others including DFS, Waitrose and Travis Perkins turn to CopriSystems when struggling with similar issues. “It’s about the complete package” says


Rafe: “In offering full turnkey projects, starting with the correct design through planning if required and onto installation including lighting, doors, groundworks and other additions we aim to make the process as pain free as possible. Working over weekends and scheduling construction to suit the customer’s business timescales means we are able to provide a great worry-free service while work goes uninterrupted.” Often it is important that a new


structure is supported by the walls so there’s no need for pillars. This allows better utilisation of space for storage and a clearer area for those looking for additional workspace. It’s wrong to think of them as purely temporary. “We’re currently installing one which


will remain in situ for at least 10 years,” concludes Rafe. “Others call for something temporary but are thinking one or two years while Sportswear International aim to stay where they are for 20 years. It will be decades before the cover needs replacing. Either way, they conform with building regulations for wind and snow whether using galvanised steel, Glulam wood or aluminium with a PVC covering or steel cladding to different specifications.” CopriSystems is a market leader in the
